I am studying secondary social studies education. I am currently a senior in the Teacher Education Program at Michigan State University, the university that is currently ranked #1 in the nation for secondary education. I am also double majoring in Social Relations and Policy as well as pursuing a teaching minor in Spanish. This past summer, I taught English in Quito, Ecuador for two months where I gained experience lesson planning, delivering instruction, and personal one on one tutoring . As a teacher, my goal is to maximize the intellectual potential that every student possesses by believing in them, challenging them, and motivating them to become the best scholars and citizens they can possibly be.

Some of my interests include hanging out with my friends, reading, learning, exercising, backpacking, camping, watching football and basketball, and just being around people. As I live my life, I never want to forget, as Winston Churchill famously stated, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”

If I could live in any time period other than today, I would live during the 1960s, to witness the MLK’s “I have a Dream Speech,” watch and participate in the Civil Rights Movement, and watch Neil Armstrong step foot on the moon.
